What is the difference between glucosamine sulfate and N-acetyl glucosamine?

A recent study used n-acetyl glucosamine in the treatment of autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease and the result is that seemed to help stop the immune system attack defective in healthy tissue. Can anyone tell me what is the real difference between the glucosamine sold for joint health (sulfate) and this N-acetyl glucosamine? Could glucosamine sulfate have the same type of cellular effect as NAG, maybe if taken in larger doses, or is simply too different? I have several autoimmune diseases and wants to test, but NAG is almost impossible to achieve in Germany for less than a ridiculous fortune and U.S. stores Vitamin apparently not sent to Germany (iHerb, Mother Nature, Amazon retailers, Vitamin Shoppe, etc, etc.) However, I can get glucosamine sulfate here without any problems.

Glucosamine sulfate vs. NAG Currently companies marketing N-acetyl-glucosamine, commonly known as "NAG" are misleading many physicians into believing that NAG is better absorbed, more stable, and is better used than glucosamine sulfate. These arguments are unsupported by scientific literature. In fact, the literature contains quite the contrary. Glucosamine sulfate is clearly the preferred form. As noted above, detailed human studies on the absorption, distribution and elimination glucosamine sulfate administered orally have shown an absorption rate as high as 98% and once absorbed is distributed primarily to joint tissues where it is incorporated in the connective tissue matrix of cartilage, ligaments and tendons, in addition, there are clinical studies on the impressive thousands of patients. On the contrary, has never been a double-blind study using NAG for any application. Neither have there ever been any detailed studies on NAG uptake in humans. Further evidence of the superiority of glucosamine sulfate for NAG is offered by studies in laboratory animals. Over the years, many researchers have shown researchers repeatedly that glucosamine is superior to NAG in terms of absorption and use at least a factor of 2:1.18-29 These researchers concluded that glucosamine is a more efficient precursor of macromolecular hexosamine [GAG] that the N-acetyl-glucosamine does not penetrate cell membranes and, therefore, is not available for incorporation into glycoproteins and mucopolysaccharides.20 absorption NAG is quickly digested by intestinal bacteria, 2) is a binder NAG of lectins known diet in the intestine, with resultant lectin-NAG complex being excreted in the stool, and 3) a large percentage of NAG is decomposed by the intestinal cells. This preference is manifested by the fact that the absorption of glucosamine sulfate is an active process.29 In other words, there are mechanisms in the body that are designed specifically for the absorption and utilization of glucosamine sulfate. Without such mechanisms exist to NAG. It is highly unlikely that NAG has the same type of antiarthritic and properties antireactive glucosamine sulfate has been shown to possess.30-31 Besides the question of absorption, several studies have shown that the joint tissue is not able to use NAG, as does glucosamine.18-19 NAG marketing information is often used slow acetylators term to describe a very small group of individuals with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis who are not able to convert Glucosamine NAG as fast as people without these conditions. Sulfur is an essential nutrient for joint tissue where it functions in the stabilization of the connective tissue matrix of cartilage, tendons and ligaments. Already in the 1930s, researchers showed that individuals with arthritis are commonly deficient in this essential beverage nutrient.34 sulfur levels produced a significant benefit to these patients.35 Thus, it appears the sulfur portion of glucosamine sulfate is very important and is another reason why glucosamine sulfate is the preferred form of glucosamine. Dosage The standard dose of information for glucosamine sulfate is 500 mg three times daily. Obese people may need higher doses based on body weight (20 mg / kg bw / day). Glucosamine sulfate is well tolerated. In addition, there are no contraindications or adverse drug interactions. People taking diuretics may need to take higher doses. Glucosamine sulfate may cause some gastrointestinal upset (nausea, heartburn, etc) in rare cases. If this happens, the patient try taking with food.
